A Family Tradition

Today is my cousin David's birthday.  I won't say how old he is exactly, but he's a week older than me and we aren't turning forty (this year).   In honor of his birthday I thought I'd share of few of my favorite David photos.
July 4, 1976
David wearing his everything belt and me
wearing the dress I wore everywhere that summer.

December 1971
David and I in the process of learning a valuable
lesson about sharing, namely, that "share" doesn't
mean "give it to me because I want it."  I love this photo
even more because of the one below.

December 2002
That's my son Owen and David's daughter Elly learning
the same sharing lessons. I love that my Grandma is in
the background laughing as she watches a third generation
learn the same things all over again.  I also love that the
"Chicken Dance Tickle Me Elmo" seems poised for attack.
That was one seriously scary toy.

April 1973
Here we are sharing our second birthday party,
and being able to share so many life events
(even if we had some trouble sharing toys)
was one of the absolute best things about
having cousins who lived close by.
Happy Birthday David!
I hope that someone shares some
cake with you today.
